HOA Annual Meeting and Election

 There is NO actual physical meeting or election planned for 2020.  The deadline to return the ballots mailed to each homeowner is Close of Business December 15.  Ballots may be mailed back to Lanier, scanned and returned as an attachment to an email to Lanier, faxed to Lanier , or hand delivered to Lanier.

The current HOA Board will have the Clubhouse open from 5pm to 8pm on December 15 for hand delivery of ballots. A Lanier representative will be present.

No announcement has been made to indicate how the votes, or by whom, will be counted, nor how the results will be announced to the community.

Please check the packet Lanier sent to you which includes a ballot, dues bill for 2021, and statements from those running for the Board who chose to make a statement.

You do NOT need to pay the 2021 dues to vote by December 15th. You just need to be current as of Dec 15th.

The ByLaws call for a Board Meeting to be convened as soon as the election is over.  The purpose of this meeting is for the new Board to vote for President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer for 2021.  No Board Meeting has been announced.

In 2020, there are four open Directors slots. The four Board of Directors leaving in 2020 are:

Trevor Ferguson, Mark Stevens, and  Ashley Gamble plus whoever was voted in to replace Megan Hamilton, who resigned, have to step down, and their seats are up for election.

Board of Directors whose terms are up, as named above, are able to run for election. (None of the Board Members who have to step down this year were elected to the Board by the HOA membership but were appointed to the Board in December 2019.)

The remaining three Board Members will be finishing  their two-year term , including replacements for Board Members who resigned and  have been replaced by Board Member(s) voted onto the Board by the remaining Board Members at that time.( These replacements serve out the balance of the term remaining for the elected Board Members.) 

The ByLaws do not allow for substitutions.  Board Members terms are fixed at two years before they have to retire, or be re-elected.

The Lake Shore HOA Annual meeting is open to all members of the Lake Shore HOA.  Our HOA management company, Lanier, will be present to give their annual presentation, which includes the past and future financial budgeting.

Elections for new board members are held at the Annual Meeting.  To vote in the elections, you must be a homeowner is good standing.  This means that all dues, fines and any accumulated interest must have been paid in full. The 2020 dues are not counted for this as they are not due until Jan 2020.

The Lake Shore HOA ByLaws specify that we use the plurality voting method, rather than the cumulative voting method. (Plurality voting means that each homeowner gets to one vote for each open Director position.

Each lot has one vote, no matter how many adults may reside in the home. The home may be represented by any of the adults who are on the deed to the house (you can check who is eligible by looking at the mailing label on the large white envelope Lanier recently sent with the 2020 Dues statement, 2020 Budget, information about the Annual Meeting, and a Proxy Vote form; if your name is on this label, you would be eligible to vote as the representative for your home/lot.)
